Ghostwriter is an upscale Americana Bistro and Bar lovingly created by my friends Dennis and Denise Blankemeyer. They brought me onboard from the very beginning to flesh out their vision for a deeply intimate restaurant concept based on a somewhat Melvillian writing theme. I developed the branding and helped with the design and textures.
Ghostwriter started out as a run-down laundry mat with red brick and very poor (typical) finishes. I reworked the exterior from existing entry points, but basically scrapped the old to rebuild an English pub exterior. The final build out is true to my rendering to a tee.
My branding touches and the visual narrative were followed through to perfection. The Blankemeyer’s own a very successful hospitality furnishings company, so GW is meant to be a showcase for their fine eye to detail and design, and it works! A few of my initial design influences are sprinkled throughout, but they really created the design with a perfect pitch.
Okay one of my favorite touches. I had develped these for a different bar scenario, and it didn’t pan out. Dennis helped me get them made, so naturally, we worked them into GW!
